The Top Tray is staggered and packed with overlapping colours, and the visible upper layers are dominated by Pink, Orange, Blue, and Green. Your front row of Boxes demands Pink, Orange, Pink, and Blue, and one bad tap on a stray Purple or Black will clog the belt and ruin the run.

The tray's left edge is carved into a jagged shape. At the very top left sits a Green next to a Purple, with a Blue and a Black below. The real danger is the middle rows, where Connected Boxes link a Purple to a Green, a Pink to an Orange on the right, and a Brown to a Black near the lower-left cutout.

The bottom columns dictate the whole opening. Column one runs Pink, Green, Orange, Black. Column two runs Orange, Blue, Green, Pink. Column three is Pink, Brown, Black, Orange. Column four is almost all Blue, with three consecutive Blue clears before a Purple at the very back. Across the front, the demand is Pink, Orange, Pink, then Blue, so you need plenty of Pink and Blue right now.

The upper-left Purple and the upper-middle Black are traps — your front three rows have zero Purple Boxes, so releasing them early means they rot on the belt until the very end. Touch either within the opening two minutes and the run is already lost.

How to Beat Marble Sort Level 42 — Step-by-Step

Survive the opening board

  1. Start with the loose Pinks over on the right — a Pink Box waits on the far left and another in the third slot.
  2. Then ease the Pink-Orange pair on the right edge open. With the Orange Box in slot two live, both colours land cleanly and the belt stays free.
  3. Find the Blue cluster in the lower-middle and drop it into the far-right Box — column four runs Blue nearly the whole way down.
  4. Ignore the upper-left Purple entirely, and do not move the upper Black marbles at all.

Handle the midgame transition

After that first wave of Pink, Orange, and Blue clears, the board's character flips entirely.

  1. Watch the second layer slide into place — Green and Brown Boxes finally appear, and the left side becomes safe to touch.
  2. Start digging into the Green marbles. The Purple-Green linked pair in the middle-left is worth triggering only while a Green Box is actually waiting below.
  3. Drop the Brown marbles on the lower left, but be careful with the Brown-Black pair — only fire it when a Black Box is actually visible below.
